ePrint has fulfilled this company's need for a TIFF to PDF converter while maintaining their customers' high expectations and complying with government, insurance and industry regulations.

This transportation service provider needed to comply with government, insurance and industry regulations as well as customer expectations. Their customers expect that they will have electronic documents which show proof of delivery, readily available, for their review and approval. Without these documents there is no proof that shipments have been picked up and delivered to the proper consignee.

The internal Transportation Management System stores these proof of delivery documents in TIFF format and then links them to the customer order. Unfortunately, this format is not the best format when presenting the documents via the web. Aside, from most browsers not having a proper plug in, the TIFF document can be easily altered by such simple programs as MS Paint. Management decided that the documents should be presented in PDF format, something that has become almost a de facto standard for exchanging documents electronically. Then the search began for a TIFF to PDF translation program.

One of the most critical factors was that they needed a utility that could be scheduled and run unattended in batch mode. By developing a VBscript wrapper which drives LEADTOOLS ePrint, they were able to accomplish this with minimal cost and effort. Every night the script scans the MS SQL databases for new image files and sends them to LEADTOOLS ePrint for conversion into PDF. It worked like a charm.
